Welder/Fitter

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Welder/Fitter to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Power Bus Way Team in Mississauga, ON. The Welder/Fitter will be responsible for welding and fitting metal components per drawings to create finished structures or products.

What Will You Do?

• Interpret drawings to select pre-cut metal plate and sheet parts.
• Operate a saw and cut bars, tubes, etc. to specific lengths and angles per drawings.
• Take prepared metal components and fit together per drawings.
• Set up and operate welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using various welding techniques, to complete the project.
• Operate manual MIG & TIG welding machines
• Finish welds (e.g. grinding, cleaning).
• Inspect product to ensure it is structurally sound and adheres to quality standards.
• Communicate any machine or production problem that may affect the desired output to the Production Manager.
• Willing to take part in additional shop activities such as component fabrication and assembly
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior work experience in the trade.
• Completion of CWB Welder Qualification Tests for 47.1 and or 47.2 (*note: can be completed within the first 6 months of employment).
• Experience with sheet metal welding & fabrication.
• Experience with structural steel welding and fabrication.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and reference manuals.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Detail-oriented, good communication and mechanically inclined.
• Must have own welding helmet and safety shoes.
• Understands and follows safety regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machine issues.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Salary Range: $25.00-$30.00/Hourly
