Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Planner/Scheduler to join the Cablofil Team in Mascoutah, IL. The Production Scheduler ensures that daily production requirements are met through analysis and reporting of production status. This position is an integral part of the supply chain with responsibilities that include but are not limited to working with management team to ensure that deadlines and schedules are met and thereby preventing line stoppages/delays to maintain a high level of customer service.  Interface with Production and Inventory Control Specialist or Production Supervisor and interprets capacity requirements for all new orders and order priorities. Maintain a close working relationship with customer service to provide product availability, order status updates on all production related matters. Continuously review, fix, COGI and report corrections. Set best delivery dates and communicate these with customer service.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and/or monitor completion of products through the production cycle based on customer orders and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor material requirements and order raw materials based on demand and inventory control guidelines.
  • Managing material availability by setting/monitoring MRP exceptions, actual component usage, and following-up with suppliers on parts and materials needed to support operations.
  • Responsibility for inventory levels related to specific product lines and/or assigned project work. Assist in problem-solving and executing appropriate countermeasures for deviations from planned inventory levels (safety stock violations).
  • Work with Inventory Control Manager to understand and manage short term/long term capacities to minimize the cause for past due orders.
  • Establish effective communication with various departments as necessary to meet production requirements.
  • Interact with customer service team members to manage demand information in the capacity planning and production schedule.
  • Participate in, and lead, production meetings to ensure seamless communication between all functional areas.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to trouble shoot supply chain issues that could jeopardize on-time performance.
  • Ensure that all production orders modifications and cancellations are accurately and timely recorded in SAP.
  • Schedules with offsite processing vendors: electroplating/galvanizing/painting of products (trays, connectors, brackets and fittings)
  • Maintain strong partnership with logistics to drive smooth transfer from production department to shipping department to achieve on-time delivery.
  • Resolve exception transactions in COGI including month end activities.
  • Assist in physical inventory.
  • Other projects as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma required
  • BA in Operations/Materials/Business or, BS in Engineering preferred, or equivalent knowledge, education and experience.

Experience: Minimum 3 - 7 years experience in Production and Inventory Control, Operations, Purchasing, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of materials control/production planning
  • Must have advanced manufacturing systems planning knowledge, MRP system experience strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional computer skills, spreadsheet, presentation and data base software, proficiency with various e-mail, calendaring, meeting management and related communications software. 
  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities. Must have strong analytical skills, ability to evaluate situations, identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a fast paced and team based environment.
