Position Description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing (NPI) Engineer II /Snr to join the Starline Singapore Team. The Manufacturing (NPI) Engineer is responsible for implementing best manufacturing practices and continuous improvement projects to support the manufacturing value streams.  The primary goal of this position is to ensure that new products are designed for manufacturability and can be produced efficiently, on time, and within budget. He/She also provides technical support to production operations and personnel and is involved in the design and implementation of manufacturing automation and process initiatives. 

 

What Will You Do?

 

Main Job Duties: 

  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Evaluate early-stage designs to ensure they can be produced at scale, often conducting Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Test (DFT) reviews.
  • Manufacturing Process Development: Establish end-to-end production methods, including process flow, work instructions, and tooling/fixture requirements.
  • BOM & Engineering Changes: Key contact with the Engineering team to ensure the Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy and working/coordinating Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
  • Pilot & Prototype Builds: Lead and analyze pilot runs to validate that both the product and the process meet technical requirements before full launch.
  • Risk Management: Conduct Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify and mitigate potential production risks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the technical liaison between engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality teams. Coordinate with the sourcing team to ensure component readiness, quality, and material flow.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency through analysis and planning of workflow, space requirements, plant, and equipment layout.
  • Design and implementation of fixturing for assembly operations
  • Initiate, support, and measure productivity and process improvements.
  • Identify and implement lean manufacturing opportunities.
  • Support large capital project initiatives.
  • Create and administer automation solutions.
  • Develop and document operational procedures compliant with ISO 9001-2015
  • Support global initiatives

Qualifications

Education:           

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology; Industrial or Mechanical preferred
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in the manufacturing engineering field, preferably in an assembly and machining environment
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills for leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment & leading Kaizen events
  • History of success in NPI & productivity improvements
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

 

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain conditions, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection is required.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time, including air travel.
